Disability and Unemployment

South Africa is still falling behind and even though 6-10% of the South African population has a disability, only 0.8% of the total workforce comprises people with disabilities. For young people with disabilities accessing the open labour market, is even more difficult as they are faced with barriers related to their youth and their disability.

DWDE can help ensure that your 2% workforce representation by persons with disabilities are the best fit

DWDE offers a range of innovative solutions in the area of disability recruitment in South Africa. Our services are informed by best practices to provide you with candidates that are a perfect fit for your business with all the associated benefits of a diverse workforce.

  • Improved job performance
  • Improved retention rates
  • Lower recruitment and selection spend
  • Lower staff turnover rates
  • Motivated and dedicated employees with the potential to build a career in your company

At DWDE we understand business’ concerns about the risks of employing first-time job seekers. Based on years of experience and lessons from other countries, we have developed a model to source, develop and place unemployed Persons with Disabilities in entry level positions for the first time in their lives.

In South Africa, employers have serious challenges to find entry-level staff with the requisite skills, abilities, and behavioural competencies to perform their jobs. But based on years of experience, DWDE can successfully supply motivated and dedicated employees from this previously untapped sector of the South African market of a talent pool.

Our transition-to-work and place-and-train skills programmes, as well as job coaching services, ensure new employees have the confidence, skills, and functional behaviour to do more than just a job — they have the potential to build a career.

By reducing the overall cost of employing first-time job seekers and reducing staff turnover rates, DWDE helps to increase your company’s profit.

Employing first-time job seekers who have been on the DWDE training programmes can significantly reduce the risks.

The long-term benefits include:
  • Improved job performance;
  • Improved retention rates;
  • Lower recruitment and selection spend;
  • Lower staff turn-over rates; and
  • Motivated and dedicated employees with the potential to build a career in your company.
